WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- During the recent Watertown City Council meeting, the Council approved a $10,000 contribution to Watertown Cares for 2024. This funding is intended to help the organization continue its mission of providing pathways out of homelessness.
Watertown City Manager Amanda Mack presented to the Council.
Councilman Dan Schutte, also on the board of Watertown Cares, recused himself from the vote, although Mayor Ried Holien said he was allowed to because he does not profit from it.

Councilman Dan Schutte highlighted the positive impact of transitional housing and the potential for individuals to become valuable community members once they receive the necessary support.
The organization has received funding from the county, the hospital, and the Community Foundation. Lalim mentioned upcoming fundraisers and efforts to secure matching funds to continue their work, but she wasn’t quite ready to share all the details, so stay tuned for the announcement.
