SD Legislative’s Executive Board preparing for 2025 session

PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- It’s going to take some time to restore the public’s trust in state government.

That’s part of the sentiment from state Representative Ernie Otten of Tea.

He’s the chair of the legislative operations and audit committee that’s dealing with several cases of alleged employee fraud in the South Dakota Department of Revenue.

Representative Otten told members of the Legislature’s Executive Board this morning that Attorney General Marty Jackley is expected to offer proposed laws to prevent fraud in the future.

South Dakota legislative leaders are making final preparations for the upcoming legislative session.

Part of that effort is providing money to help the Douglas School District build a 62-million dollar Elementary School…needed for the expected influx of airmen and their families coming to Ellsworth Air Force Base with the new B-21 Raider Bomber.

Represenative Gary Cammack (cuh-MACK) told the Legislature’s Executive Board that tens of millions of dollars have already been raised for the effort…but the project still needs another 15-million.

Cammack says preparations for the B-21 expansion has already created more than One and a half billion dollars worth of construction at the base.

Currently, his committee isn’t able to share much information on its work because testimony has come in executive session.
