NSU Racks Up Four On All-NSIC List (VB)

Burnsville, MN (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2024 NSIC Volleyball All-Conference teams this afternoon with four honored from Northern State University. The Wolves selections were highlighted by the NSIC Libero of the Year Abby Meister. She tallied first team honors alongside Natalia Szybinska, while Keri Walker and Hanna Thompson were named to the second team.

Meister leads the NSIC this season averaging 5.67 digs per set with 493 digs total. She has recorded double figure digs in 23 of 24 matches this season, and surpassed 1000 digs as a Wolf in just two seasons at NSU. The Sioux Falls native holds a career mark of 1,320 digs. In addition, she tallied 16 matches on the year averaging 5.00 digs per set or better. She was named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season. This is the second NSIC All-Conference first team honor for the junior and first Libero of the Year award.

Szybinska leads the Wolves this season with 277 kills, averaging 3.18 per set; ranking tenth in the league in total kills and seventh in kills per set. In addition, the junior has 41.0 total blocks in 2024, as well as 46 digs. The outside hitter tallied a career best .556 attack percentage against Sioux Falls in NSIC play and tallied double figure kills in 14 matches. The 2024 season marks Szybinska’s first on the NSIC All-Conference first team and third all-conference honor overall.

Walker is nearing 1000 assists this season with 949 total, averaging 10.91 per set. She ranks sixth in total assists and fourth in assists per set this season in the NSIC. The graduate student surpassed 4000 career assists in late October, sitting third all-time with 4,233 assists. In addition, she has a team second best 262 digs, as well as 54 kills, 42 blocks, and 28 aces. In five matches this season the Wisconsin native averaged over 12.00 assists per set. Walker is now a 3-time NSIC All-Conference honoree.

Thompson heads into the final weekend of the regular season second on the team with 263 kills, averaging 3.06 per set. She ranks eighth in the league in kills per set and top-15 in total kills. The Minnesota native hit a career high .667 against South Dakota Mines and added a career high eight digs against Wisconsin Parkside. In addition, she has 80 digs and 38.0 blocks this season and recorded 15 matches with double figures kills. This fall marks her first appearance on the NSIC All-Conference teams.
