NSU Volleyball adds more depth to Roster for 2025

Aberdeen, S.D. (nsuwolves.com) – Northern State University head volleyball coach Brent Aldridge announced the addition of two student-athletes to his 2025 roster today. Logan Fredrickson (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and Katelyn Schroeder (Tulare, S.D.) will join the Wolves heading into next fall.

“Right now, this is a smaller class, but I envision adding players as needed,” explained Aldridge. “We have some on our radar and will evaluate them and our impending needs this spring. With the core group we have coming back I feel like we are in a good place heading into next fall.”

Logan Fredrickson – Middle, Detroit Lakes, Minn. / Detroit Lakes HS
Logan Fredrickson is a 6-foot-2 middle out of Detroit Lake High School. She was a 4-year starter and senior team captain for the Lakers under the direction of head coach Rachel Solum. Fredrickson recorded 513 kills and 173 blocks in her prep career. She is a 2-time all-conference selection and led DLHS in blocks in 2023 and 2024. Detroit Lakes placed top-5 at the MSHSL State Tournament in 2022 and 2023 after winning back-to-back Section 8AAA Championships. She is the daughter of Lesley Fredrickson Webber.

Aldridge’s Thoughts: “Logan Fredrickson is a middle that I have been watching for four years now. She has good length and has the ability to terminate in some different zones for us. That length will also help in the blocking department. I look forward to training her to go off one foot a little more and use that length to her advantage. I will get to watch her play club again this spring. She has the length and now we need to work on the strength.”

Katelyn Schroeder – Outside Hitter, Tulare, S.D. / Hitchcock Tulare HS
Katelyn Schroeder is a 5-foot-11 outsider hitter out of Hitchcock Tulare High School. She was a 5-year starter and 3-year team captain for the Patriots under the direction of head coach Jordan Opp. With games still to be played in her senior postseason, Schroeder has 1,474 kills, 1,577 digs, 156 blocks, and 158 aces. Schroeder is a 4-time all-conference selection, 3-time all-state honoree and multiple time team MVP. Schroeder was honored on the AVCA PHENOM list the last three seasons and is an AVCA All-Region and All-American recipient. She holds seven Hitchcock Tulare school records and surpassed both 1000 career kills and digs as a junior. HTHS won the 281 Conference Championship this fall and continues their quest for a state championship. In addition, Schroeder is a state qualifier in three track and field events and 1000-point scorer in basketball. She is the daughter of Jim and Erin Schroeder.

Aldridge’s Thoughts: “Katelyn Schroeder has been on our radar since she was very young when she came to camp at Northern. I look for Katelyn to get us back to our roots with our outsides playing six rotations. She can handle the ball both on serve receive and also defensively in the back row. I like her ability to go fast to the pins as well. She has some shots in her game all ready. Pretty solid overall game at the high school level.”
