SD GF&P receive report on aquatic invasive species on South Dakota waterways

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Inspections for aquatic invasive species in South Dakota waterways has wrapped up for 2024.  Fisheries Program Administrator Jake Davis says it was a big year for keeping an eye on things like zebra mussels.

Water users are complying with plug regulations in the state.

Despite the efforts, zebra mussels have expanded to more lakes this year.

There were 63 citations and 76 warnings issued for A-I-S compliance issues in 2024 by conservation officers in South Dakota.
