WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- The City of Watertown will introduce a 3.5% user fee on all payments made by credit or debit cards, effective February 1, 2025. This new fee will apply to transactions at various city locations, including the Solid Waste Division (Landfill), Police Department, Library, and City Hall.

Individuals wishing to avoid this fee can use alternative payment methods such as cash or check.

The new fee is designed to help offset the costs associated with processing credit and debit card payments. While the fee is new to the City of Watertown, such processing fees are common and often incorporated into vendors’ pricing of goods and services.
