BRANDON, S.D.(KELO)- A suspect is presumed dead in an armed standoff in Brandon.
U-S Marshals were met with gunfire as they attempted to serve an arrest warrant Wednesday.
That led to hours of negotiations to get the suspect to surrender…but he didn’t respond.
SWAT team members deployed chemical agents into the home, a fire broke out, and the suspect never left.
Minnehaha County Chief Deputy Jeff Gromer says the situation was dangerous enough that officers had no choice.
Officials say there isn’t any continuing threat to the public.
The State Division of Criminal Investigation is reviewing the case
