South Dakota House defeat SB129

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House debated SB129.  The bill modify renewal fee requirements for an on-sale liquor licensee whose business premises have been annexed into a municipality of the first class.

The bill was primed on the Senate side by Senator Michael Rohl of Aberdeen.  The bill’s prime on the House was Representative Greg Jamison of Sioux Falls.

Jamison discuss how some businesses would take advantage of liquor licenses just outside the city limits.

Opposing the bill on the floor was Representataive Jeff Bathke who felt this could lead to monopolies within the city.

Bathke feels this should be settled by the counties & the cities and not by state government.

South Dakota House defeat the bill on a 39-31 vote.
