Recap of SW District Candidate Forum

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Tuesday night the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce & the League of Women Voters hosted a City Council Forum for candidates running for the open seat in the SW District.

The two candidates vying for the seat are Talmage Ekanger & Nicole Schutter.  Both candidates were asked questions about how they would improve Aberdeen.

Top Issue:  Both were asked the #1 issue impacting Aberdeen

Potential New Mens Prison:  Both were asked about the possibility of a new Mens Prison discussed by Prison Task Force.  Two locations were discussed for here in Aberdeen.

Water: Both were asked about how to address the water issue in Aberdeen

Young: Both were asked how to keep young people in the city of Aberdeen

City Manager:  Robin Bobzien is set to retire at the end of the year.  Both were asked the type of person they are looking for.

Economic Development:  Both were what role city government should play in that.

Election is on Tuesday, June 3rd.  Early voting begins on Monday, May 19th.
