ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The Out of the Darkness Walk will take place locally at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Odde Ice Center at the Brown County Fairgrounds.

The Suicide Prevention event will feature walks across the nation.

Sam Bruers, Area Director for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, provides the details about Saturday’s event.

Bruers said it is crucial to talk about mental health.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. with a short ceremony at 10. There is no cost to walk, however, those who do raise at least $150 will receive an Out of the Darkness Walk t-shirt. Bruers said that all funds will go to support mental health research, prevention education, advocacy and support for lost survivors.
