Some lawmakers want 45Q tax credit out of “One Big Beautiful Bill”

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Regional elected officials are hoping to have an impact on the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill”.

They’ve signed a letter on its way to congress to fight the 45-Q tax credit.

That credit is the financial engine that would make Carbon Capture pipelines profitable.

State Senator Joy Hohn of Minnehaha County says the tax credit needs to go.

Nearly 100 elected officials and party leaders from Indiana, Iowa, the Dakotas and Montana have signed the letter asking their congressional delegations to strip the 45Q tax credit from the reconciliation bill.

Congressman Dusty Johnson voted to keep the credit in the bill, while Senators Rounds and Thune haven’t said how they’ll vote.
