ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- At Monday night’s Aberdeen City Council meeting, the council heard Mayor Travis Schaunaman about a possible purchasing agreement for the nursing building on the former Presentation College campus.
Schaunaman give credit to the Presentation Sisters for offering this to the city and he also explains what else needs to be done with the building.
Schaunaman told the council the money would come from the City’s Promotion Fund.
Councilman David Novstrup offered a motion to take the money from the Reserve Fund instead.
Councilman Rob Ronayne opposed the motion.
The council defeated that motion on a 8-1 vote.
The city council voted 9-0 for the purchasing agreement to be used out of the Promotion Fund.
Sister Mary of the Presentation Sisters wanted to thank the council for working with them for the benefit of the city.
The purchasing agreement is for $330,000 for the building and no more than $130,000 for the replacement of the HVAC system. Those figures are still negotiable.
