SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Chances are strong Sioux Falls will remain home to the men’s state penitentiary.

The Project Prison Reset Task force is recommending construction of a new 15-hundred bed prison in northeast Sioux Falls, with a 650-million dollar price cap. The project would need to be a 100-year design.

Task Force chair, Lieutenant Governor Tony Venhuizen called the group to support the plan.

The vote was unanimous in supporting the plan.

That recommendation now goes to the full legislature, which will be called into a special legislative session.
