News Media Corporation closes down four newspapers in South Dakota

SOUTH DAKOTA(HubCityRadio)- On Wednesday, News Media Corporation announce they are closing newspapers effective immediately to about 150 newspapers located in the following states:  Arizona, Illinois, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

Newspapers impacted in South Dakota include the Huron Plainsman, Redfield Press, Brookings Register, and Moody County Enterprises based in Flandreau.

Some media markets are looking to help out those communities.  The Dakota Scout and the Northern Plains News both based in Sioux Falls is looking to expand their coverage into the Brookings market.  The Dakota Scout have been providing some news update for those in the Flandreau area.

Spink County Commission & Redfield City Council  has set up an emergency meetings Friday to address their official newspaper going forward.
