Sioux City, IA (GPACSports.com) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the preseason football coaches’ poll for the 2025 season. Morningside University is the preseason pick to win the GPAC championship.
The Mustangs reached the NAIA semifinals last season before falling to eventual NAIA Champion Grand View. Northwestern also made the NAIA Football Championship Series, advancing to the quarterfinals in 2024.
Morningside totaled 99 points and nine first place votes. Northwestern was picked second with 89 points and two first place votes. Dordt was picked third with 84 points, with Concordia tabbed fourth with 68 points. Midland rounded out the top five with 64 points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

Games for the 2025 season kick off on Thursday, August 28 through Saturday, August 30, with most teams playing non-conference games. Four teams open Conference action starts on Saturday, August 30 as Hastings takes on Doane along with Northwestern battling Waldorf, while the rest of the teams start league play on September 6.

SIOUX CITY, IA (DWUAthletics.com) – The Dakota Wesleyan football team was picked to finish ninth in the 2025 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Coaches Preseason Poll, the GPAC announced this morning.
Dakota Wesleyan received 32 points after finishing 4-7 last year under Coach Kretzschmar in his first year at the helm.
Northwestern has been picked to take the crown with 99 votes, while Morningside follows suit with 89 votes.
DWU will open its 11-game season at home against Dakota State on August 30th at 7:00 PM at Joe Quintal Field for the Traveling Chamber of Commerce Trophy. The Tigers will be at Joe Quintal six times this year with homecoming to be set for October 25th vs. Waldorf
