ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night, the State Supreme Court Commission dealing with parenting time guidelines met in Aberdeen. They are looking to amend the guidelines that been in place since 2021.
The chair of the committee, 6th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Christina Klinger describe the purpose of the committee.
Among those who offered public testimony was Eric Glover of the National Parents Organization of South Dakota who talked about gender neutrality language.
On that committee is attorney Kyle Riggins who discuss some the positive feedbacks she received about the guidelines.
Senator Tom Pischke who introduced legislation back in 2021 to help create this panel discuss clarifying legal definition for various custodies.
Representative Brandei Schaefbauer wanted to clarified the issue of holidays based on different cultural backgrounds.
Judge Klinger offered an answer to that question.
Other topics addressed include how they could address the issue of social media going forward.
They will also have meetings on Monday, August 25th in Sioux Falls and Monday, September 15th in Rapid City. Deadline to update the guidelines is set for October 1st.
