MITCHELL, S.D.(KYNT)- The Texas legislature has wrapped up a special session that produced new Congressional district maps that could swing several seats to the republicans.

California is working on similar legislation that will be voted on in November.

Senate Majority Leader, South Dakota Senator John Thune says it is a state decision.

Thune says a mid decade re-apportionment is kind of unusual.

Other states including Illinois, Michigan and Maryland may also move toward redisticting.
