Recap of Tuesday’s Brown County Commission meeting

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Brown County Commission was back in session after taking last week off for the annual state convention for counties in Pierre.

Commissioner Duane Sutton discuss the award received by the county at the convention this year.

Sutton acknowledged that Brown County has more awards at the gold level than any other county in the state.

During the meeting itself, Brown County Commission heard request from Dacotah Prairie Museum’s Executive Director, Patricia Kendall, for the use of Courthouse Space for the upcoming Fall Festival.  Kendall talks about what the festival is about.

The commission approved the request.

They also got some early numbers from the Brown County Fair Manager Rachel Kippley for the 2025 Fair.  Kippley talks about the fair will be making money this year.

Kippley discuss the success of this year’s Grandstand events.

Kippley also discuss the alcohol sale which will also be in the black this year.

Total revenue just over $102, 696.75 with expenses at $48,914.24.

Kippley praise law enforcement for keeping the fair safe this year.

Total revenue so far this year(likely to change) was over 1.75 million dollars.  the projected budget for 2025 was just over 1.5 million dollars.
