Watertown soon to have first fully online radio station in the city

WATERTOWN, S.D.(Northern Plains News)- Watertown will soon have its first fully online radio station.

Northeast Radio SD, created by longtime local broadcasters Steve Jurrens and Dorene Foster, is set to launch Monday, October 13.

With the tagline “Your Hosts. Your Home. Your Radio,” the station says its mission is “connecting the city with the country.” Programming will include hyperlocal news, live weather, and music spanning country, rock, pop, and pop rock from the 1990s through the 2010s.

“We are building an authentically grassroots radio station that truly serves our community by offering a unique and authentic platform,” Jurrens said.

“Our broadcast model is built on providing in-depth hyperlocal news, live weather, and in-depth community stories that resonate with our audience, the community! This isn’t just a playlist; it’s a place where listeners can get the information they need and feel a genuine connection.”

Foster said she is eager to share her roots and connect with listeners.

“I am incredibly excited to bring our passion for radio and our love for this community to life. We want Northeast Radio SD to be a hub for local stories and a place where people feel heard. My family and I have roots in rodeo, and you bet your boots you’ll be hearing about it on-air! We can’t wait to start broadcasting and connect with everyone. Buckle up!”

Ahead of the launch, Jurrens is covering local news on the station’s website and social media, giving listeners a preview of its commitment to quality reporting.

The station promises hyperlocal content, twice-hourly weather, and “the topical South Dakota state news you need to know.” Streaming will be available on Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and smart speakers via Live365.
