PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- More work is planned to make repairs to the interior of the South Dakota State Capitol and at no extra cost to taxpayers. The Capitol Complex Beautification and Restoration Commission approved extending restoration work in the Rotunda down through the Rotunda. Deputy State Engineer Kristine Day says the new scope would take restoration to the south Capitol doors.
The expanded scope should address most of the plaster issues in the Capitol.
Commission member David Gilbertson says approving the new scope should be obvious.
Day says the timeline for the work is remaining the same, starting yet this year.
The Commission voted unanimously in favor of expanding the scope of work on the Capitol.
