OMAHA, Neb. (WNAX) – The Corps of Engineers continues to adjust releases from dams on the Missouri River in an attempt to move stored water, while trying to avoid further downstream flooding.
Mike Swenson, with the water management office at Corps Headquarters in Omaha, says storage went up last week.
Swenson says releases from Gavins Point Dam are being stepped up to 80,000 cubic feet per second by Saturday. He says Ft Randall releases will also go up.
Swenson says Lake Oahe is holding fairly stable.
The Corps cut back releases from Gavins Point last weekend trying to avoid the flood surge from the James, Vermillion and Big Sioux Rivers.
