PIERRE, S.D.(SDBA)- The Senate Transportation Committee green-lighted solid background plates as an option. SB24 was introduced by the chair of the Transportation Committee on behalf of the Department of Revenue.

District 1 Senator Michael Rohl says it’s a matter of appearance for vehicle owners.

The move to solid background plates started in Iowa, and has spread to other states.

If the measure passes and you decide to make the change, it will cost you an extra 100-dollars.
