Senate Commerce & Energy Committee defeat SB6

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Senate Commerce & Energy Committee heard testimony on Thursday on SB6.  The bill reduce the duration of an individual’s reemployment benefits.

Prime sponsor of the bill was Senator Michael Rohl of Aberdeen.  He talks about how this came about.

Among those opposing the bill include Deb Mortenson, lobbyist for the Associated General Contractor.

Eric Nelson with AARP South Dakota talks about why their group were also opposed to that.

The committee deferred the bill to the 41st day on a 8-1 vote effectively killing the bill.
