Funeral Service for Darrel “Ace” Morris of Ipswich, SD will be 2:00 pm Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Schriver Funeral Home, 720 N 6th Street, Ipswich, SD with Pastor Dan Kuno leading the service.
Interment with Military Rites will follow the funeral service at the Ipswich City Cemetery, Ipswich, SD.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Schriver Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Darrel Robert “Ace” Morris was born at home on a farm south of Ipswich, SD, on January 9, 1941, to Robert “Bob” and Darlene (Drager) Morris. He attended rural school through the 6th grade and in 1953 his family moved to Ipswich. Ace then finished his schooling in Ipswich, graduating in 1959.
On August 19, 1959, Ace enlisted in the United States Army. After being discharged, he returned to Ipswich and worked as a mechanic and a gas and fuel truck driver for 40 years. He also spent many hours riding his Harley motorcycle, bowling on a bowling league and proudly volunteering with the Ipswich Fire Department for 35 years.
Even after Ace retired from the fire department, he continued to serve when the fire alarm went off by directing traffic. He proudly put up and took down the cemetery flags on Memorial Day and helped Mike at Dixon Repair.
Ace passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, SD at the age of 85.
He is survived by his two sisters Bev Jones and Donna Holland along with several nieces and nephews.
Ace is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Dale Morris and Dennis Morris and two sisters Judy Morris and Marilyn Maroney.
