YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – A tornado that damaged a Sioux Falls hospital could end up being a benefit to the Human Services Center in Yankton.
The Avera Behavioral Health Center was severely damaged in the tornado that struck earlier this month. Many of their staff and patients have been moved temporarily to the Human Services Center.
Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says there is a chance for each facility to benefit.
Hunhoff says Avera Behavioral Health staff is filling a critical shortage.
Hunhoff says the state is obligated to provide the needed services at the Human Services Center.
Hunhoff has been meeting with officials of the Department of Social Services which oversees HSC.
