Frank Schwartz and Jordan McQuillen elected Chair & Vice Chair of District 6

REDFIELD, S.D.(Press Release) – A group of approximately 40 municipal officials representing 6 cities gathered at the South Dakota Municipal League’s annual District 6 Meeting, held in Redfield on April 9.

Leland Treichel, SDML President and Board President of Roscoe, discussed the strengths of the Municipal League with the group. Jessica Carr, South Dakota Municipal League Director of Member Engagement, spoke about the outcome of the 2026 Legislative Session and the effect new laws will have on South Dakota municipalities.

Topics of discussion included workforce retention and recruitment, as well as affordable housing.

Treichel also conducted the election of District 6 officers for the upcoming year. Frank Schwartz, Redfield Mayor, was re-elected Chair and Jordan McQuillen, Aberdeen Finance Officer, was elected Vice Chair. As the district chair, Schwartz will act as a contact for and represent their district as a member of the SDML Board of Directors. Duties began immediately.

In other business, those attending voted to hold the 2027 District 6 Meeting in Aberdeen.
