ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- One of the topics brought up at the 2nd Republican Gubernatorial Debate held Monday in Sioux Falls was the higher recidivism rate seen in the state.  According to The Justice Center, the recidivism rate in South Dakota was 2011 was at 40% and in 2021 increased to 50%.  Those that were arrested and jailed within three years of being paroled.

Another state is that within tribal lands, the recidivism rate is sitting at 66%.  Congressman Johnson reacted to that.

Johnson if elected is implementing Safer South Dakota.  One aspect of that is the Supervision & Release Task Force.  We asked him what that is about.

Johnson believes now is the time to get this rolling rather than wait until the new mens prison is finished in Sioux Falls in 2030.
