Aberdeen Central Girls Set Program Record In Huron

HURON, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Central girls golf squad is back & they’re breaking records, again.

On Tuesday at Broadland Creek Golf Course, the Golden Eagles not only won the Huron QUAD by 21 strokes over second place Mitchell, but they set a new program record in the process. Aberdeen Central collectively carded a (+1) for the tournament en route to their second win of the season. That finish was better than last years previous record from the Hub City Invite at Lee Park.

Individually, senior Olivia Braun came out red hot. Braun would be the individual medalist for the event, carding a (-5, 67) for the sunny afternoon. Braun played a bogey-free front nine and picked up a pair of birdies on the par three, third hole and the par five, fifth hole.

Even though she did have a pair of bogey’s on the back nine, the highlight of the round with an eagle on the par five, 16th hole; she’d also add birdies on holes 11, 12 & 17.

But it wasn’t just the Olivia Braun show, her teammates Emma Dohrer, Chloe Vikander & Kyley Wirebaugh would all finish in the top five. Dohrer tied for second with Maddie Childs of Mitchell with a (-1, 71) and Vikander & Wirebaugh finished in fourth & fifth, respectively at (+3) & (+4).

It’s the second event of the season for Central & their second collective team & individual medalist crown collected; they’ll return to the links on Friday at Brandon Valley.
