ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio) – On Saturday, Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman posted on his official Facebook page his 2026 State of the City Address. On Wednesday he appeared on the KSDN Midday Report to talk more about that.
Mayor Schaunaman for the first time posted his State of the City address on Facebook. He explains why he chose to do that.
Schaunaman talks about the possibility of a one cent sales tax for the city that was passed by the South Dakota Legislature this year.
Schaunaman during this year’s SD Legislative session testified on how the data center up in Ellendale has impacted the city of Aberdeen.
Schaunaman went over some of the infrastructure scheduled to be done in 2026 starting with an update on the 10th Avenue Bridge project.
Another major project is the road work to be done on North Dakota Street just north of Holgate Middle School.
Mayor Schaunaman also talks about the plans to work on the manhole covers in Aberdeen.
One thing the mayor was pleased to see in 2025 was the better relationship with Brown County. Schaunaman talks about what they will be working on for 2026.
