ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters hosted the District 1 House Candidate Forum on Saturday at the K.O.Lee Public Library.
The candidates were the incumbents Representatives Logan Manhart & Nick Fosness. The challengers were Keith Miller & Daniel Kjos.
Public funding for private schools, homeschooling & charter schools:
The candidates were asked about their position on this. Representative Manhart offered his support for this.
Representative Fosness expressed his opposition.
Miller has six children and all are homeschooled. Despite that he talks about why he’s not in favor.
Kjos was also opposed.
AI Data Centers:
Each candidate was asked about tax incentives for data centers.
Representative Manhart is a strong no.
Representative Fosness was a supporter of this. He talks about how data centers impacted the Ellendale area.
Keith Miller talks about his concerns.
Daniel Kjos talks about why he supports this.
The candidates also had different opinions on the new Mens Prison in Sioux Falls. Manhart and Miller opposed while Fosness & Kjos were in favor. They also differed in govenment funding for reduced lunches in schools. Again Manhart & Miller opposed while Fosness & Kjos are supportive.
