PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – The Board of Regents reported that university enrollment in South Dakota is down just over three percent this fall. That follows the trend of the last 10 years of flat or declining numbers.
Regents President Kevin Schieffer says they do see some positive changes in the future.
Schieffer says they know there are potential students that are going elsewhere.
Schieffer says they are only so many places to look.
The Regents will again ask the 2020 legislature to help fund the “Dakota’s Promise” needs based scholarship. That plan was defeated in this years session.
The Regents are meeting this week at Dakota State University in Madison.
