SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – The President of Smithfield Foods says the main reason they keep their plant open in Sioux Falls is due to the local labor force and that needs attention.
Ken Sullivan spoke at the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry Economic Outlook in Sioux Falls Tuesday.
Sullivan says they are making a donation to Southeast Technical Institute for a veterinary tech program.
Sullivan says a technical education has increasing value.
Southeast Tech President Bob Griggs also announced that the State of South Dakota will provide $500,000 in matching funds.
Griggs says they will also partner with McCrossans Boys Ranch.
Griggs says they already have applications for the program starting in the fall of 2020.
