WATERTOWN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – If you want to have a successful baseball team, one of the biggest things your program needs is, what? Answer: good pitching.

After a 13-3 shortcoming in game one against Watertown Post 17, the Aberdeen Smittys got a complete game shutout from Michael Dutenhoffer as he scattered four hits and struck out fifteen batters en route to a 4-0 win. Even when things got a tad dicey, in the bottom of the seventh inning with two on and one out and Watertown threatening, the lefty would strike out the next two for his fourteenth & fifteenth strikeouts of the day.

With the 1-1 split, the Smittys summer is underway; they’ll be back in action this Saturday at Fossum Field against Sioux Falls West.
