Aberdeen, SD (Press Release)

On June 8, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers with the Aberdeen Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of 4th Avenue SW following a report of an injured adult female.
Officers arrived on scene and conducted an investigation, which determined that the female had been struck by a vehicle. The investigation led to the arrest of 63-year-old James Joseph Jung of Aberdeen. Investigators determined that Jung and the victim were known to one another. Jung has been charged with SDCL 32-34-5, Hit-and-Run Accident Resulting in Death or Injury, a felony offense. The female victim died earlier today. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
