SDGA Boys & Girls Junior 16-18 Championships @ GC @ Red Rock, Rapid City, SD [Day 1 of 3]
RAPID CITY, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – After the first day of the three day SDGA Boys & Girls junior 16-18 championship(s) in Rapid City, Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun is right in the thick of things (no this is not a recording).
Braun sits in second place after carding a (+2, 74) for the first day of action. It was an uphill battle for Braun, carding a double bogey on the first hole of the day, but then settling in nicely picking up a birdie on the par four sixth hole & then another birdie on the par three eighth hole, to finish even par on the front nine.
On the back nine, Braun was played error free golf until the par three 12th hole, she’d bogey there; but got it back with a birdie on the par three 15th hole. Unfortunately, she would double bogey the 18th hole and finish two strokes over for the day.
The back-to-back-to-back Class A state champion, Brynn Roehrich of Clark/WL sits in third place, one stroke behind Braun & two strokes off of first place: Kaitlin Strain of Rapid City.
On the boys side, Onida’s Gavin Colson fired a (+2, 74) for the first day and he sits three strokes off of first place, held by Bryce Thompson & Carter Peterson of Sioux Falls. Aberdeen’s Harper Schnabel is tied for seventh place after shooting (+3, 75) after day one.
Action continues on Tuesday & Wednesday out west in Rapid City.
