Braun’s Furious Fight To Finish Line Wins Junior Title

SDGA Boys & Girls Junior 16-18 Championships @ GC @ Red Rock, Rapid City, SD [Day 3 of 3]

RAPID CITY, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – History has a funny way of repeating itself.

Just like the state AA tournament earlier on this month in Watertown, Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun was trailing going into the final day of the tournament, she medaled & so did the team. Out west in Rapid City, Braun trailed by four strokes going into the final day against Rapid City’s Kaitlin Strain & once again, history would repeat itself: Braun is the medalist, once again.

Braun shot a (-2, 70) for the final day and was the only player under par. She won the 16-18 Championships by four strokes over second place Rylan Horning of Rapid City, who shot a 73 for the day. Strain, who had the lead for 54+ holes, would collapse on the day, shooting a (+9, 81) with 10 bogeys on the day, after just four (single) bogeys in the first two rounds, combined.

Brynn Roehrich, the back-to-back-to-back Class A champion from Clark/WL would finish in fifth place, she was 10 strokes off of Braun’s pace; carding an (+11, 83) for the final day of action.

On the guys side of things, Mitchell’s Asher Dannenbring would claim the medalist, storming up the leaderboard eight spots from day two to day three and finishing with a (68) on the day & winning on the 10th hole of a sudden-victory playoff.
