SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(HubCityRadio) – On Thursday, Sioux Falls Mayor Christine Erickson endorse Governor Larry Rhoden in his reelection bid.
“Governor Rhoden understands that strong communities are built on safe neighborhoods, responsible government, and creating opportunities for families to succeed. There is no better partner to make Sioux Falls safer and more affordable,” said Mayor Christine Erickson. “I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Governor Rhoden, and I know he listens, leads, and delivers. I’m honored to support his campaign as we continue moving South Dakota forward together.”
The announcement took place at Rhoden for Governor’s Sioux Falls campaign headquarters.
“I’ve worked with Christine on a number of issues over the years. We’ve been more than just colleagues – we’ve been friends,” said Governor Larry Rhoden. “It’s been pretty incredible what we’ve been able to accomplish for Sioux Falls in the last 18 months. Yes, there are still challenges, but I always look at challenges as opportunities not yet realized. I look forward to working with Mayor Erickson to keep Sioux Falls safe and to keep the community growing strong.”
Toby Doeden reacted to the endorsement by saying “I endorsed Christine Erickson in her race because it was the right thing to do. Allowing Sioux Falls to fall to Democrat control would have undoubtedly been a disaster. That being said, it is no secret that I am far more conservative than Christine and have significant cultural and political differences with her. She is endorsing Larry Rhoden because her donors and those that have funded her political career are forcing her to do it. I understand the political game and how it works. No hard feelings.”
