ABERDEEN, S.D.(Hub City Radio)- Tuesday was the runoff election between Governor Larry Rhoden and Aberdeen businessman Toby Doeden.  Rhoden won the nomination to be the Republican candidate for South Dakota Governor.

On Thursday, the Brown County Commission canvassed the results held in Brown County.

Brown County Auditor Lynn Heupel went over the vote tally for each vote center in Brown County.

Heupel informed the commission about provisional votes that could be added.

Heupel broke down by percentage how many Republicans voted in the runoff.

The vote tally was Governor Rhoden winning Brown County 68%(3,963 votes) to Doeden’s 32%(1,872).

The commission approved the results.

They also decided to audit the election results.

Commissioner Drew Dennert pulled the location that will be audited.

There were 674 votes casted at the Best Western location.  414 votes went to Governor Rhoden while 260 went to Doeden.

The audit is scheduled for 5pm, Thursday, August 6th.
