SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- As the new year starts, parents are facing some extra challenges related to social media and their kids.

The Drug Enforcement Administration has released a guide warning parents about the danger of kids using their phones to buy drugs.

Emily Murray of the Omaha DEA office says the online document reveals code words and emoji’s parents should be watching for.

Murray says social media sites may be harder to track because of encryption or usage of cash apps available on most phones. To learn more go to www.DEA.gov.
