VERMILLION, S.D. (WNAX) – Schools count their students in late September and that is the number that is used to calculate state aid.
Vermillion School Superintendent Damon Alvey says they are seeing slow growth.
Vermillion schools had 1,259 students last year. Alvey says that increase also fuels more options for students.
Alvey says enrollment growth takes pressure off the school board and administration.
Alvey says they have some part time students that will also be reflected in their total.
