HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Northern State got off to a rough start, giving up a goal inside the first 20 minutes of action, courtesy of Lexi Pettit, while Maddison Balashaitis was slated the assist
  • NSU spent most of the opening half on defense, with Concordia-St. Paul racking up 13 shots in the first half
  • Thankfully for the Wolves, Audrey Burns blocked five would-be goals, tallying five saves and one goal allowed
  • The Wolves came out of the half looking like a different team, spending most of the 45 minutes on CSP’s side of the field
  • Of Northern State’s 12 total shots, 11 of them were taken in the second half, including Missman’s goal
  • Just over 15 minutes into the second half, Missman kicked the ball in what looked to be a cross, but skipped past Sydney Potter in the net, what ended up being the equalizer in the match
  • For Northern State, Mara Schultz led the way with three shots (one shot on goal), while Jaylee Hofer and Kennedi Gack tallied two shots apiece

WINONA, MN (NSUWolves.com) [SUN] – Northern State earned their first NSIC victory today, taking down winless Winona State 3-2. In the battle, The Wolves recorded three goals, nine shots, seven shots on goal, two saves, five corners and four fouls.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Northern State got on the board first and early, tallying a Jaylee Hofer score around the 15 minute mark, which was the first of three goals in the first half
  • In 65 minutes of action, Hofer notched one goal and an assists on two shots (two shots on goal) while Sarah Helderop followed suit, put up two shots of her own
  • Six minutes later, the Warriors found paydirt off the foot of Jacey Sturek (assisted by Kyleigh Jannisch) to tie the game at one apiece
  • Shortly after, Ella Johnson would clock her first goal of the weekend of her  second goal of the season
  • But the Warriors kept battling, recording the equalizer in the 65th minute by way of Madison Barnick
  • With under ten minutes to go and the match looking like it may end in a tie, senior forward Chloe Voss put the nail in the coffin courtesy of a Hofer assist to earn NSU the win
