Alan Haarstad with the Department of Education told Hub City Radio that there is still time for families to get help with School Lunches. Haarstad explained the current program that has been in place.

According to Haarstad, what is new has been put into action by House Bill 1082 and will allow for free lunches and milk to those that qualify.

He went on to say that the guidelines change each year but applying is easily done.

If a family is receiving other benefits, that may automatically qualify them for the new program.

Your Child’s Public School will be able to help with the application process and will have the year’s Income Based qualification guidelines.
