SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(Hub City Radio)- SDPB in conjunction with South Dakota NewsWatch held a one hour debate Monday night.  Two candidates running for Governor are the incumbent Governor Larry Rhoden(R) and Dan Ahlers(D).  Both candidates addressed several different topics.

Affordibility:

Governor Rhoden looked toward addressing lower property taxes to lead to allowing citizens the opportunity to purchase things that they need.

Ahlers believed properly funding education will lead to savings for the citizens in the state.

Future Fund:

Rhoden talked about what the legislature did to allow how the Governor can use that fund.

Ahlers believed the fund is good but would like to see it bee more transparent.

Data Centers:

Rhoden addressed the potential need for them in the future.

Ahlers believed this should be addressed more on the local level than on the state or federal levels.

Recidivism:

Rhoden believe one way to address this is training inmates when they are incarcerated.

Ahlers believe they should get treatment needed while incarcerated.  He believe this is something they can work in conjunction with the communities.
