WATERTOWN, S.D. (KWAT) — Winter storms and fall harvest work are not a good combination, but that’s what South Dakota producers will be dealing with over the next several days.

Parts of the state could see a foot or more of snow at a time when producers are anxious to get their beans and corn out of the field.

South Dakota Agriculture Secretary Kim Vanneman talked about the conditions.

She says harvest work was already running behind schedule, and this winter storm will push things back even more.

A wet summer, and now an early winter storm means just getting a combine into the field, in many cases, will be difficult.
