WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – Public hearings on the possible impeachment of President Trump will begin next week in the U.S. House.

If articles of impeachment are passed, the Senate would then sit as the jury to hear the case and pass judgement.

South Dakota Senator John Thune says he is trying to focus on his work.

Thune says Senators would have an obligation to take the process seriously.

Thune says the voters will have a say next year no matter what happens in Washington this year.

Thune was a Member of the House in 1998 and voted to impeach President Clinton.
