CAVOUR, S.D. (Press Release) – A Cavour, S.D., man has been identified as the person who died early Friday morning in a one-vehicle rollover that occurred south of Cavour.
A 1992 Dodge D250 pickup was southbound on 409th Avenue when the driver lost control on the ice-covered road. The vehicle went into the east ditch, rolled and came to rest in standing water in the ditch.
Benjamin Miner, a 37-year-old passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger, 31-year-old Ben Miller of Bancroft, S.D., received minor injuries and was taken to the Huron hospital. Judd Fox, the 31-year-old driver from Bancroft, was not injured.
None of the occupants were wearing seat belts. Charges are pending against the driver.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information is only preliminary at this point.
