PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – Passengers boarding SkyWest Airlines planes at Pierre Regional Airport in 2019 reach nearly 15,000 and that was with only eight and a half months of actual service. Pierre City Commissioner and airport liaison Jamie Huizenga says December enplanements were the best in nearly 40 years.
Air service didn’t return to Pierre until early April after California Pacific Airlines abandoned its EAS contract to serve the Capital City. Huizenga says with three more months to gain flyers, 2020 could see even more passengers totaled up.
The only real issue with air service in Pierre is one that will be addressed in 2020.
SkyWest Airlines in Pierre operates as an affiliate of United Express Airlines.
