SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – The doppler radar at the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls will be offline for several days later this month.
Peter Rogers, the warning coordination meteorologist in the Sioux Falls office, says technicians will be upgrading hardware.
Rogers says the doppler is critical to their operations.
Rogers says the upgrade will extend the life of the radar into the 2030s.
Rogers says the Sioux Falls site is the last National Weather Service radar in the country to get the upgrade.
