OMAHA, Neb. (WNAX) – The Corps of Engineers is stepping up the pace of expanding flood storage capacity on the big reservoirs on the Missouri River.
John Remus, Chief of the Missouri River Basin Water Management Office for the Corps in Omaha, says last year was challenging.
Remus says they reached their winter storage targets.
Remus says they make have to make rapid changes in operations this spring.
The Corps has increased flows from Gavins Point Dam to 35,000 cubic feet per second, well above the normal winter flow of 12 to 15 thousand cubic feet per second.
