PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – A bill to streamline the carrying of a concealed firearm inside the State Capitol in Pierre gains favor with the South Dakota Senate Monday. Senator Jim Stalzer of Sioux Falls says Senate Bill 98 is a follow-up to the original Capitol carry bill, SB-115 last year.
Stalzer says that process is pretty much being done now.
The Sioux Falls Republican says those carrying a weapon in the Capitol are well vetted.
Stalzer, the prime sponsor, was the only Senator to speak in favor of the measure. No one spoke in opposition. The bill passed on a 30 to 5 vote and now heads to the House of Representatives for consideration.
